The Al Pastor Taco features organic pork marinated in Tacodeli’s house-made adobo, then cooked to tender perfection. It’s topped with a bright, zesty jalapeño escabeche that adds just the right amount of heat to each bite. Built on Tacodeli’s signature tortilla, the $5.50 taco is a nod to traditional Mexico City-style al pastor.
Al Pastor, translating to “in the style of the shepherd,” has a storied history that reflects a unique fusion of Middle Eastern and Mexican cultures and cuisines. Originally prepared by Mexico’s Lebanese immigrants with lamb and served on pita bread, this culinary tradition evolved in Puebla and Mexico City. Over time, cooks adapted the method by using pork and incorporating local flavors, leading to the creation of tacos al pastor. ?
