SCENE
Bodega Cerro del Toro is a Uruguayan wine project founded in 2016 with the mission of producing high-quality wines in a privileged location on the Maldonado coast. It is located in Piriápolis, on the northeast slope of Cerro del Toro. The winery develops lines of varietal and blended wines, seeking to express its true Atlantic character.
CHALLENGE
The objective was to design the image of the winery’s top-of-the-range wine, giving it a unique, strong, and elegant identity. The proposal had to reflect the uniqueness of this wine’s place of origin, conveying its essence and distinctive character.
SOLUTION
The Alquimia label is based on the research we conducted on Piriápolis, the wine’s source. Piríápolis is a coastal city in Uruguay, founded by Francisco Piria, a fascinating figure who combined urban planning with his knowledge of alchemy, numerology, and esotericism. We decided to highlight the name at the top in copper stamping, conveying sophistication and mystery, and then work an ornamental and symmetrical design in the center evoking the ancient engraving of a bull’s head, linking it to the name of the Cerro del Toro Winery. Three key concepts found in Piria’s ancient texts are highlighted: the Sierras, the Atlantic, and Energy. These concepts reinforce the wine’s connection to its surroundings and to Piria’s vision of the occult and alchemy. All the elements tell the story of the place where this wine was born in an elegant and mystical way.
